SMALL DROPLETS WITHOUT HIGH PRESSURE

THE NEWLAND ELECTRIC ATOMISER

The Newland Electric Atomiser is an easy way of producing small liquid droplets solely by high-speed rotation, without any need of compressed air, steam or high pressure. It has applications in humidification, disinfection, odour control, oil misting, and chemical coating.

The Newland Atomiser consists of a high speed electric motor rotating a small porous cylinder at speeds up to 30,000 rpm and above. Input liquid runs down the inside of the hollow shaft and into the cylinder. Centrifugal force drives the liquid through the porous material, spreading it evenly on the cylinder's surface. As the liquid is thrown off the rotating surface, the passing air atomises it into small droplets. A circular low-impact spray cloud is created whose droplets are all of a similar size, adjustable by speed control of the motor.

The Newland Atomiser operates from low-voltage DC (10 - 25 Volts, 2 Amps maximum). A special Power Supply is available, allowing operation from the 230/115 VAC mains supply - this unit also has a speed control. A 24 V battery supply is also quite satisfactory. Power consumption is less than 50 Watts.
